Makinde proposes N891.9bn for Oyo’s 2026 fiscal year

Governor Seyi Makinde has presented an N891.9 billion “Budget of economic expansion” to the Oyo State House of Assembly, prioritising infrastructure and education with over half of the estimate allocated to capital projects.

Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday presented a N891.9 billion 2026 fiscal proposal to the Oyo State House of Assembly, describing it as a “Budget of economic expansion” aimed at driving a production-led economy. The budget totals N891,985,074.480.79, with 56.3% allocated to capital expenditure and 47.6% to recurrent spending.

Makinde announced that infrastructural development will receive N210.25 billion (22.55%), while education gets N155.209 billion (17.40%), alongside significant allocations to health (N70.848 billion) and agriculture (N19.98 billion).

Prominent traditional rulers attended the presentation, and Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin assured that all funds would be properly monitored, stressing that projects captured in the budget will positively impact residents of Oyo State.
