Igbos should stop being emotional over Nnamdi Kanu’s conviction – Orji Kalu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has made a direct appeal to the Igbo people, urging them to move past emotional responses regarding the conviction and ongoing detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The former Abia State governor’s comments address the severe human and economic toll he associates with the separatist movement in Nigeria’s South-East region.

According to the senator, the agitation linked to Kanu has resulted in devastating consequences, including the loss of more than 30,000 lives and the destruction of countless livelihoods. Kalu’s statement suggests a call for pragmatism over sentiment, framing the situation as a critical moment for the region to prioritize stability and economic recovery over continued conflict.
