A 36-year-old Nigerian Master’s graduate, Hammed, has died in the United Kingdom after his health “deteriorated suddenly from advanced cancer.” The native of Ayete, Oyo State, who had travelled to the UK last September to study at the University of Plymouth, managed to complete his program in Business and Management despite his diagnosis earlier this year.
Described by fundraiser organizers as “the joyful heart of his home,” his condition worsened rapidly, and plans to fly him back to Nigeria were abandoned after doctors declared him medically unfit to travel. A GoFundMe campaign, which successfully raised over £6,000, was initiated to give him a “dignified burial” in the UK, as repatriation of his remains was not possible.
