Nigerian seminarian dies after being kidnapped on July 10

“Emmanuel, injured during the attack, was left behind by kidnappers and found dead the next day,” said Father Auchi.

Abuja (Agenzia Fides) – Emmanuel Alabi, the seminarian kidnapped in Nigeria on July 10, has reportedly died from starvation and injuries sustained during the abduction, according to Father Jude Sule Auchi, Chancellor of the Diocese of Auchi. Father Auchi cited testimony from Joshua Aleobua, a fellow seminarian released on November 4.

“According to information provided by the seminarian who has since been released, Emmanuel, who was injured during the attack on the seminary, felt exhausted during the forced march imposed by his kidnappers and was unable to continue the journey with them,” Father Auchi explained. “As a result, he was left at a specific location. When the kidnappers returned the next day to collect him, they found him dead.”

On July 10, armed men attacked the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Ivianokpodi, Edo State, killing security guard Christopher Aweneghieme and abducting three seminarians. Japhet Jesse and Joshua Aleobua were later released, while Emmanuel Alabi did not survive.
