Governor Chukwuma Soludo expressed optimism of a landslide victory in the Anambra election, dismissing reports of vote buying as inconsequential.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed confidence that his party will secure a landslide victory in the ongoing Anambra governorship election, despite reports of widespread vote buying, according to Vanguard reporting.
Soludo, who voted at Ofeiyi Ward 19, Polling Unit 002 in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, around 1:30 p.m., acknowledged receiving reports of alleged voter inducement in parts of the state. He cited instances in Nnewi South Local Government Area, where “massive vote buying” was reportedly taking place.
“The concerns we’ve received is in one or two places in Nnewi South, particularly where we understand there is massive vote buying… even if he shares N100,000, never mind, let the people just vote and count the votes,” Soludo said.
He also noted minor hitches with BVAS devices in areas such as Orumbanasa but described the overall process as peaceful and orderly.
Reiterating his confidence in the electorate, Soludo stated, “We are convinced that, based on one man, one vote, we are going to win by a landslide—no doubt about that.”
