My brothers and sisters in Christ are murdered for practising their faith and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ
United States lawmaker Riley Moore, leader of an investigative committee set up by President Donald Trump, has accused the Nigerian government of failing to justify the extensive military assistance it received from Washington. According to SAHARA REPORTERS reporting, Moore decried the alleged “ongoing genocide against Christians in Nigeria,” saying it has been met with global indifference.
In an interview, Moore criticized Nigerian authorities for failing to prioritize the protection of Christians despite being granted “billions of billions of dollars worth of security assistance, training and equipment.” He expressed outrage, stating: “My brothers and sisters in Christ are murdered for practising their faith and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Moore warned that Nigeria’s inability to address the violence could eventually force US intervention, promising: “If we don’t address this, if we don’t do something about this and some terrorists take hold in Nigeria, I promise you, we would have to address it one way or the other.”
His comments follow President Trump’s re-designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” over which Trump posted: “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria, thousands and thousands of Christians are being killed.” The Nigerian government has since rejected this characterization.
