Civil society and community-based organisations have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027, praising his administration’s sweeping reforms in the oil and gas industry.
Community-based organisations (CBOs) and civil society groups under the Citizens Connect Conference have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027, citing his “bold and far-reaching reforms” in the oil and gas sector.
In a communiqué issued after their Lagos conference, the groups commended Tinubu for consolidating the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and empowering regulatory bodies for transparency and efficiency.
“The Citizens Connect Conference recognises that under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria’s oil and gas regulatory environment has been repositioned for efficiency, transparency, and investor confidence,” the statement read.
They lauded Engr. Gbenga Komolafe’s leadership of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) for driving digitisation, anti-theft initiatives, and improved revenue generation.
The communiqué added that the operationalisation of Host Community Development Trusts has empowered oil-producing regions and turned them into stakeholders in national prosperity.
