Imo police command probes officers filmed with alleged cult members

The Imo State Police Command has ordered a thorough investigation after a viral video surfaced showing policemen in Owerri allegedly engaging in cult activities, including wearing regalia and interacting with suspected members of the notorious Vikings cult.

The Imo State Police Command has launched a probe into a viral video that appears to show officers openly engaging in cult activities with individuals believed to be members of the Vikings confraternity.
The video, posted online by @naijaconfra, a page monitoring cult activities, allegedly shows policemen attached to the command shooting in the air and “chanting and gesticulating” with the individuals in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The post accompanying the video stated, “These are police officers in Owerri, Imo State, openly disgracing the Nigerian Police Force by engaging in cult activities. They are boldly wearing Vikings (DNKI) berets and caps — an £vil cult group responsible for countless de@ths across Nigeria and beyond.” The post further questioned how such officers could arrest cultists.
Reacting to the footage, CP Aboki Danjuma, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, issued a statement on Friday.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has ordered a thorough investigation into the viral video showing a group of police officers in an unacceptable display of unprofessionalism. The CP strongly condemns the conduct as unethical and unbecoming of police officers,” the command stated.
The investigation is ongoing to confirm the identities of the officers and determine the necessary action against them.
