NECO has released the 2025 SSCE results, with 60.26% of candidates passing English and Mathematics, alongside a 61.58% drop in examination malpractice cases.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE internal) results, 54 days after the last paper was written.

Announcing the results in Minna on Wednesday, Registrar Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi said 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26 per cent of the 1,358,339 who sat for the June/July exams, scored five credits and above, including Mathematics and English. He added that 1,144,496 candidates, or 84.26 per cent, had five credits irrespective of both subjects.

Wushishi noted a significant decline in malpractice, with 3,878 cases recorded compared to 10,094 in 2024 — a 61.58 per cent reduction. Thirty-eight schools in 13 states were cited for mass cheating, while nine supervisors face blacklisting for misconduct.

Kano topped state performance, followed by Lagos and Oyo, while Gabon recorded no candidates with five credits including English and Mathematics.

NECO also confirmed the phased transition from paper-based to computer-based testing across schools.
