Jim Iyke claims single mothers struggle to raise men properly

The Nollywood actor insisted that women are not “built” to raise men alone, stressing the need for a father figure or trusted male presence.

Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has ignited debate with his remarks that single mothers cannot raise boys into “proper men” without the involvement of a male figure.

Speaking in an interview with Okay 101.7 FM in Accra, Ghana, Iyke argued that women are naturally nurturing but lack the discipline-instilling qualities needed to shape boys into strong men.

“A woman can’t raise a man. You can’t, you’re not built for it. A single mother cannot raise a man properly. You need a male influence,” he said.

He illustrated his point with an incident involving his four-year-old son during a family holiday, saying he withheld intervention when the boy was bullied, allowing him to “fight back” and reclaim his football.

Iyke added: “I’m not here to help you. I’m here to guide, protect, and provide. The rest, you figure it out by yourself. That’s what makes tough kids.”

The comments have since gone viral, sparking widespread reactions online.
