Nigerians troll Cubana Chief Priest after US visa rejection stops him from attending Davido’s wedding

Nigerian socialite and celebrity barman, Cubana Chief Priest, has become the subject of online trolling after the US Embassy refused him a visa to attend Davido and Chioma’s wedding…

Nigeria’s celebrity barman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has found himself at the center of social media trolling after revealing he was denied a United States visa — a setback that saw him miss the highly anticipated wedding of his close friend, Davido, and Chioma Rowland in Miami.

In a series of emotional Instagram posts, Chief Priest expressed his “mixed feelings” about the development. “Woke up this morning with mixed feelings, I’m happy and I’m still sad at the same time. Sometimes God has a way of making you understand that you are powerless regardless of all you may think you have,” he wrote.

While extending heartfelt wishes to Davido and his bride, he appealed to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria for another chance: “Do it for me this time, you can clearly see how disappointed & hurt the world is to see me absent at my best friend’s wedding.”

Why he is sad

Cubana Chief Priest’s sadness runs deeper than just missing a celebrity event. Davido is more than a friend to him — he’s a business ally and a constant presence in his public and private life. The wedding was not just another high-profile party; it was a moment for him to stand beside someone who has stood by him.

His absence means missing shared memories, photo opportunities, and the chance to be part of a milestone in Davido’s journey. He even revealed that his wife was attending in his place, a bittersweet reminder that he’s represented, but not present. “The largest part of me which is my family, my beautiful, elegant, expensive, eloquent & sophisticated wife @_deangels are there… so I’m there in body & spirit,” he wrote.

Trolling and online reactions

Nigerians online didn’t let the moment pass quietly. Social media timelines were filled with memes, sarcastic comments, and playful jabs at the self-styled “celebrity barman.”

Some joked that his “fat ass” comment in the appeal to the U.S. Embassy was probably what got the application rejected. Others teased him about flaunting wealth online but being “powerless” before visa officers. A popular meme making the rounds showed him photoshopped into the wedding pictures with captions like “CP made it after all.”

  • “Chief Priest that sprays dollars like confetti can’t enter America? Na wa o!” – @NaijaGistMaster
  • “Maybe if he stopped spraying money at parties, the embassy would take him seriously.” – @RealTalkNigeria
  • “Davido’s wedding guest list just got lighter. No more dollar rain!” – @LaughPidgin

Chief Priest’s optimism

Despite the trolling, Cubana Chief Priest insists that “delay is never denial.” He is determined to reapply for the visa, holding onto hope that he will eventually make it to America for another celebration or event. “I’m in again next week, please give me access to the greatest country in the world. This pain is really paining,” he pleaded.

For a man who thrives in the spotlight of lavish events, luxury gatherings, and celebrity networks, being excluded from #ChiVido2025 is a rare and humbling experience. But, if there’s anything the barman has proven over the years, it’s that he can turn setbacks into viral comebacks.
