Experts, including the World Health Organization, maintain GMO foods are safe, but misinformation persists, especially on social media.

A viral 14-minute video by health influencer Dr Chinonso Egemba has reignited Nigeria’s debate over genetically modified foods, drawing millions of views and thousands of comments.

The clip, which explained the science and controversies surrounding GMOs, sparked mixed reactions, with some accusing Dr Egemba of secretly promoting them for foreign interests, including Bill Gates — claims he firmly denies.

“Pipo don already dey tink say I dey work for Bill Gates secretly… Well for di record, I no dey work for any GMO corporation,” he told the BBC.
