Former Ogun State governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of ordering the demolition of his Sagamu residence, The Asoludero Court, Conference Hotels Limited, and its annexe. In a statement by his media aide, Steve Oliyide, Daniel said demolition notices were pasted on the properties on August 8, citing alleged violations of the 2022 Urban and Regional Planning Law.
Daniel described the move as “political persecution” and “a thuggish tactic,” noting the buildings were constructed years before the law existed. He alleged it follows a 2023 midnight demolition of his wife’s DATKEM Plaza, which is still in court.
Calling for public condemnation, he vowed to resist the action legally.
Governor Abiodun’s media aide, Kayode Akinmade, denied targeting Daniel, insisting the government is reviewing building plan compliance across the state. “If your papers are genuine, why panic?” he asked, adding that the notices were part of a wider verification exercise.
