Partey, 32, faces five counts of rape involving two women and one charge of sexual assault against a third woman, granted conditional bail on Tuesday after appearing at Westminster Magistrates
Former Arsenal and Ghana international midfielder Thomas Partey was granted conditional bail on Tuesday after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on multiple sexual offence charges.
Partey, 32, faces five counts of rape involving two women and one charge of sexual assault against a third woman, allegedly committed between 2021 and 2022 during his time at Arsenal. British police said the first report of rape was filed in February 2022.
He stood in court wearing a black zip-neck jumper, with his hands behind his back. The charges were filed four days after his contract with Arsenal expired on June 30.
Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, said he “denies all the charges against him,” and added he welcomed “the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid for £45 million in 2020, making 167 appearances and scoring nine goals. Arsenal declined to comment, citing legal proceedings. Recent reports link him to a move to Villarreal.
