Blakely Blosser was killed last Wednesday when the dog lunged at her as her mother picked up laundry. “Her mother clearly put up a fight — she had defensive wounds trying to get the dog’s jaws open,” Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis L. Campbell told WOIO. “I can’t imagine a worse nightmare.” Blakely died almost immediately from bite wounds to her face and throat. According to officials, the dog had not previously attacked humans but had shown aggression toward other dogs. The baby’s father, who was not home during the incident, later euthanized the animal. Loved ones remembered Blakely as joyful and especially close to her brother. “Their bond was pure and filled with laughter,” her family said. Prosecutors are reviewing the case, though no charges are expected.
