A 51-year-old man, Felix Aguilar-Matias, has been sentenced to three months in federal prison and had his U.S. citizenship revoked for committing naturalization fraud.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Aguilar-Matias pleaded guilty on February 18, 2025, to knowingly making false statements on his Application for Naturalization, which he submitted in August 2014. He became a citizen in March 2015.
However, investigators later discovered he had committed felony offenses between August and December 2010, which he failed to disclose. In October 2019, he was arrested by Bay St. Louis police. He was later convicted of two felonies and sentenced to 20 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
“Aguilar-Matias knowingly and intentionally made fraudulent representations,” authorities said.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
He is currently serving his state sentence in Mississippi.
