“This is one of the most severe barrages we’ve seen,” an MDA spokesperson said.
A massive missile barrage struck central Israel early Saturday, killing six people and injuring over 275 in Bat Yam and Rehovot.
The dead include a 10-year-old boy, an 8-year-old girl, two women aged 60 and 55, and an 18-year-old male.
Authorities say Bat Yam suffered a direct hit on a residential building, while a strategic facility in Rehovot was also struck. “There are seven missing persons at the scene,” Sub-Inspector Daniel Hadad confirmed.
Emergency teams across the region responded rapidly. Hospitals including Ichilov, Kaplan, Shamir, Sheba, Rambam, and Beilinson reported receiving dozens of casualties — mostly with shrapnel injuries, burns, and smoke inhalation.
Wolfson Hospital alone admitted 65 people; numbers continue to rise.
“This is one of the most severe barrages we’ve seen,” said an MDA spokesperson. “The impact on civilian areas is devastating.”
The Israeli government has not yet commented on the origin of the missiles. Investigation is ongoing.
