The Tinubu administration has failed expectations that it was going to radically improve the quality of governance of President Buhari,” he said.
Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former special adviser on political affairs to the president, has said President Bola Tinubu’s administration has failed to meet expectations in improving governance and Nigerians’ living conditions. Speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed said the government’s impact should be judged by how it affects ordinary citizens rather than just international ratings.
“Clearly, the Tinubu administration has failed expectations that it was going to radically improve the quality of governance,” said Baba-Ahmed, who recently resigned from his role in the office of the vice president. “They will tell you they are doing great with all the World Bank statistics, all the international ratings… but that’s not the only measures you use to measure a government; you measure by the way citizens live.”
He urged the president to tackle insecurity, poverty, and corruption, while increasing investment in infrastructure and social development. “So much waste, so much abuse of resources and corruption going on,” he said, calling for greater accountability across all tiers of government.
