Oluwo said, “Anyone who disrespects the king will end in ruin. Alaafin has emerged in Oyo; he must be accepted by all.”
The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has warned the Oyomesi and other Oyo chiefs against plotting against the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, stating such actions could lead to their downfall.
Speaking at his palace in Iwo during the Alaafin’s visit, Oluwo said, “Anyone who disrespects the king will end in ruin. Alaafin has emerged in Oyo; he must be accepted by all.” He warned that any conspiracy against Oba Owoade would bring misfortune, citing past experiences in Iwo.
“Any Oyomesi that is against the king or fails to support the king will perish, no matter how powerful they are,” he said, urging the Alaafin to issue a one-week ultimatum to dissenters. He added, “We must cooperate with kings; those who conspire won’t end well.”
In response, Oba Owoade called for unity among Yoruba traditional institutions to ensure the region’s progress.
