Gov Umo Eno warns Commissioners against abandoning him at public events

“If I look for that commissioner and the commissioner is not there, the commissioner will lose his or her job.”

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has issued a stern warning to his commissioners and aides, threatening immediate dismissal for anyone who abandons him during official outings.

Speaking on Friday in Uyo, Eno expressed displeasure after reportedly being left behind by some cabinet members during an engagement.

“Starting today… when they hear that I’ve fired the commissioner in your local government, it’s insubordination,” he said. “It is wrong for the governor to go on an appointment if nobody else follows him.”

Describing his cabinet as his “first 11,” Eno stressed the importance of loyalty, presence, and protocol, insisting the role of commissioner is a 24/7 responsibility.

“I had never left my governor behind. Today is the last day I make this statement,” he warned. “If I look for that commissioner and the commissioner is not there, the commissioner will lose his or her job.”

He added, “The fact that I’m simple doesn’t mean I’m an appointed governor—I’m elected by the people.”
