Governor of prison jailed for relationship with notorious drug boss Jesse Pinkman

A former prison governor has been sentenced to nine years for misconduct and a relationship with a notorious Liverpool drug boss.

Kerri Pegg, 42, was governor at HMP Kirkham when she began a relationship with Anthony Saunderson, also known as “Jesse Pinkman,” who is serving 35 years for drug offences.

Pegg, once considered a rising star in the prison service, authorised Saunderson’s temporary release illegally and accepted luxury gifts, including a £12,000 Mercedes bought with 34kg of amphetamines. Investigators also found designer items and Saunderson’s belongings in her flat.

“She had a promising future, but Saunderson was her downfall,” said prosecutor Barbara-Louise Webster. Pegg admitted in court she had been “incredibly stupid.”

The two met through the BADD inmate programme. Saunderson had previously been a key player in a £19m cocaine importation scheme and was later convicted after the Encrochat system was compromised, revealing both his criminal activity and affair with Pegg.
