Akintoye to Yorubas Worldwide: Return home and rebuild Yoruba Nation

Akintoye urged Yoruba youths in the diaspora to return home and help build a nation aligned with Yoruba values, rejecting what he called “Nigerian culture.”

Prominent Yoruba leader and National Leader of the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement (YSDM), Prof. Banji Akintoye, has called on Yoruba indigenes worldwide to unite and act swiftly to secure the region’s future.

In a passionate address on Sunday, Akintoye warned against the spread of Nigeria’s “socio-political and cultural decay” into Yorubaland. He invoked the legacy of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, expressing confidence that with unity and divine backing, the Yoruba Nation could achieve great development in under five years.

“We Yorubas will make our country a great nation in the world… The day is about to dawn, and you should be ready,” he said.

Akintoye urged Yoruba youths in the diaspora to return home and help build a nation aligned with Yoruba values, rejecting what he called “Nigerian culture.”

Despite his age, he pledged full support for the movement. “I am old, but I am ready,” he assured, concluding with hope for a better future.
