“The marshall made me scrub toilets all day because I couldn’t pay bribes,” Quadri recounted, describing systemic abuse in Kirikiri.
Alabi Quadri, the 17-year-old wrongly imprisoned after supporting Peter Obi in 2023, has revealed harrowing details of his detention at Kirikiri Maximum Prison. In an interview with Channels TV, Quadri disclosed he was forced to clean inmates’ faeces daily after being falsely arrested during a neighborhood clash. His ordeal began when local thugs handed him to police, who charged him with crimes he didn’t commit.
“They threatened to kidnap me if my mum didn’t share my campaign earnings,” Quadri said, linking his arrest to envy over his viral Obi rally photo. Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong secured his release on April 17.
