DAILY WIRE

Former Utah congresswoman Ludmya “Mia” Love passed away on Sunday after a nearly three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. She was 49 years old.

Her family posted the news on Sunday: “Love Family: With grateful hearts filled to overflowing for the profound influence of Mia on our lives, we want you to know that she passed away peacefully today. She was in her home surrounded by family. In the midst of a celebration of her life and an avalanche of happy memories, Mia quietly slipped the bands of mortality and, as her words and vision always did, soared heavenward. We are thankful for the many good wishes, prayers and condolences. We are taking some time as a family and will provide information about funeral services and a public celebration of her life in the days to come.”

Love, a Republican, was initially diagnosed with the aggressive form of brain cancer — which also afflicted the late Senator John McCain — in 2022, three years after she left the House of Representatives where she’d served Utah’s 4th Congressional DIstrict since winning the seat in 2014. Prior to her time in Congress, Love served her community as the mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah.
