Niger State police have arrested a fake clergyman and his accomplice for abducting a 4-week-old baby in Minna, with the child now reunited with its mother.
Fake Pastor, Accomplice Nabbed Over Stolen Newborn in Niger
The suspect, Chidi Johnson, aka “Yaron Pastor,” 24, confessed that Zainab Ibrahim, 22, contracted him to procure a newborn after she reportedly suffered a miscarriage, according to Peoples Gazette.
Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun said Johnson lured a nursing mother to the Kasuwan-Gwari Area on July 13 under the pretext of giving her food items and alms, before fleeing with the baby on a motorcycle.
Detectives from Minna’s ‘A’ Division tracked him down using technical intelligence following a report filed on July 14. Both suspects are in custody and will be charged in court once investigations conclude.
