Mamman Property Forfeiture
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the forfeiture of five additional properties linked to former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman, currently serving a 75-year jail term over a N33.8 billion fraud case, according to The Nation.
Justice James Omotosho ordered the permanent forfeiture of Walijam Apartments in Wuse 2, Abuja, after the EFCC established it was acquired with unlawfully obtained funds. The court also granted interim forfeiture orders on four other properties in Abuja and Kaduna, pending claims by interested parties.
Justice Omotosho held that the court retained power to issue restitution orders after conviction under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. The EFCC said it had recovered less than N2 billion of the over N22 billion Mamman diverted.
