The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned the federal government against interfering in judicial matters, specifically citing alleged pressure on Justice Nwite to recuse himself from the case of Nafiu Bala Gombe. The party claims this is a plot to reassign the case to more pliable judges, constituting an assault on judicial integrity.
ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the case’s unusual haste, despite the Supreme Court judgment’s CTC not being released, is intended to force Justice Nwite’s recusal. The party urged the NJC and other judicial bodies to intervene, emphasizing that judicial independence is crucial for democracy.
