‘You sound tired, broken’ —  Fani-Kayode slams Momodu for likening Tinubu to Abacha

Femi Fani-Kayode has attacked Dele Momodu for comparing Bola Tinubu’s administration to that of Sani Abacha, calling the remarks misguided and urging him to leave the African Democratic Congress.

Femi Fani-Kayode has criticised media entrepreneur and politician Dele Momodu for comparing President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the regime of late military ruler Sani Abacha. Momodu made the remark during an interview on Channels Television, where he suggested Tinubu could become a “potential dictator” and said some observers considered the current situation worse than the Abacha era.

Reacting in a statement posted on X, Fani-Kayode said Momodu’s comments reflected “cognitive dissonance,” describing him as sounding “drained, tired and broken” during the interview. While acknowledging his personal respect for Momodu, the former aviation minister suggested he take a break from political commentary to regain clarity.

Fani-Kayode also criticised the opposition African Democratic Congress, describing the party as weak and directionless. He urged Momodu to leave the ADC and join the ruling party, arguing that many political figures had moved to the government side due to confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu.
