A Yoruba socio-cultural group has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the Presidency’s defence of Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, insisting that allegations surrounding the controversial N27.4 billion PFIPC allocation deserve an independent investigation.
Yoruba Union Slams Tinubu Over Gbajabiamila Row
The Yoruba Union, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, has condemned President Bola Tinubu over what it described as an attempt to shield his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, from scrutiny in the growing controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), according to a report by SaharaReporters.
The group accused the Presidency of rushing to dismiss allegations linked to the council rather than allowing a transparent investigation into claims that billions of naira were allocated to the agency in the 2026 budget.
The controversy stems from allegations made by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be associated with the PFIPC. Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded a share of the agency’s proposed N27.4 billion take-off grant and received part of a separate payment linked to his appointment.
Gbajabiamila and the Presidency have strongly denied the allegations, describing Adeyemi as a fraudster and insisting the agency is not recognised by the Federal Government.
However, the dispute intensified after documents cited by SaharaReporters reportedly showed that the PFIPC appeared in the 2026 Appropriation Act and was referenced in official correspondence from committees of the National Assembly.
The Yoruba Union argued that the Presidency’s response had raised more questions than answers and urged President Tinubu to permit an independent probe into the matter. The group maintained that public confidence could only be restored through transparency and a full examination of the allegations and budgetary records connected to the agency.
