Yobe State government commits N360 million annually to its free dialysis program at YSUTH, Damaturu. Chief Medical Director Baba Goni revealed that 600-700 sessions are conducted monthly, costing N30 million each month. The scheme, running since 2017, significantly reduces patient costs compared to private facilities.
Additionally, the hospital provides free fistula surgeries and has recently upgraded its dialysis capacity to 11 machines. Plans are also underway to establish a new center in Gashua to improve access for residents in kidney disease-prone areas.
