Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized the silence of Dangote Refinery’s online supporters following a series of fuel price hikes that have seen petrol reach N1,450 per liter in parts of Nigeria.
Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has publicly questioned the silence of Dangote Refinery supporters following a sharp rise in fuel pump prices across Nigeria. The outcry comes as fuel stations in the capital city of Abuja reported new rates ranging between N1,370 and N1,440 per liter. This latest surge marks the fourth price adjustment by the Dangote Refinery in March alone, sparking widespread concern over the facility’s impact on the local energy market.
The rapid price escalations have begun to take a significant toll on the nation’s economy, leading to a spike in transportation costs and increased pressure on the cost of living. While the refinery was initially celebrated by many as a solution to Nigeria’s fuel scarcity and pricing volatility, the recent trend of upward adjustments has drawn sharp criticism from observers who expected more competitive pricing.
Taking to his official Facebook page, Adeyanju took aim at social media influencers who had previously championed the refinery against its critics. Pointing to the current economic reality, he challenged those who had defended the billionaire’s enterprise, writing, “Fuel is 1450. Where are the influencers of Dangote who kept insulting me?”
