The US Mission in Nigeria has clarified that the length of stay for international visitors in the US is determined by the CBP officer’s “Admit Until Date” at arrival, not the visa’s expiration date, and can be checked at i94.cbp.dhs.gov.

Got a US visa? That expiration date isn’t your deadline. According to the US Mission in Nigeria, how long an international visitor can stay in the United States is determined by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer at arrival — not the visa’s expiration date.

The mission explained that a US visa only allows travel to a US port of entry to request permission to enter. The actual length of stay is set by the CBP officer’s “Admit Until Date,” which travellers can verify online at i94.cbp.dhs.gov.
