UK-based Nigerian lawyer Baron Chymaker says he has formally submitted an application to renounce his Nigerian citizenship to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
UK-Based Lawyer Begins Process of Renouncing Nigerian Citizenship
Baron Chymaker is done waiting. The UK-based legal practitioner, known for his commentary on international law and Nigerian legal practice, announced on X that his application to renounce his Nigerian citizenship has been submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, with all required fees paid. “I cannot wait for the approval,” he wrote. Chymaker has long been vocal about Nigeria’s judicial system, criticising the doctrine of judicial precedent and urging Nigerian-trained lawyers to seek advanced qualifications abroad. As of press time, the SGF’s office had not issued any response to his application. (Source: Punch Newspapers)
