French police have arrested a woman in her 50s after the bodies of two infants, believed to have been killed shortly after birth and stored for at least seven years, were discovered in a freezer at a village home in eastern France.

Police believe the babies were killed shortly after birth and that their bodies had been kept in the freezer for at least seven years. The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, about 300 kilometres from the village where the discovery was made.
The grim discovery was reportedly made by a family member at the residence in Aillevillers-et-Lyaumont. According to authorities, a relative alerted police on Tuesday after stumbling upon the body of a newborn in a freezer at the property.
The alert prompted officers to search the premises, leading to the subsequent discovery of a second infant’s body in the same freezer. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and how long the bodies had been stored.
