Armed terrorists attacked three schools in Oyo State on Friday, killing a teacher, abducting pupils and staff, and triggering panic across affected communities.
Panic gripped communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State on Friday after armed terrorists attacked three schools, killing an assistant headmaster and abducting several pupils and teachers.
The affected schools were Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived on motorcycles around 9am and opened fire as pupils gathered for morning activities.
The Assistant Headmaster of L.A. Primary School, Joel Adesiyan, and an okada rider were reportedly killed during the attack.
“They came in large numbers on motorcycles and started shooting immediately. Everybody ran,” a resident said.
The principal of Community Grammar School, Mrs Rachael Alamu, five teachers and several pupils were reportedly abducted.
Confirming the incident, Tajudeen Abioye said the attackers invaded the schools shortly after troops left the area.
