Teargas chaos! Pregnant women, children choke as EFCC clashes with El-Rufai protesters

Panic erupted at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, after teargas allegedly fired to disperse pro and anti-El-Rufai protesters drifted into the hospital premises.

There was panic at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Abuja, yesterday after teargas allegedly fired by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to disperse pro and anti-Nasir El-Rufai protesters wafted into the hospital premises. The fumes reportedly left patients and caregivers gasping for breath, causing distress within the facility.

Vanguard gathered that the protesters had assembled at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi in solidarity with El-Rufai, who was invited for questioning by the anti-graft agency over alleged corruption linked to his tenure as Kaduna State governor. The gathering drew both supporters and critics, prompting security operatives to intervene.

El-Rufai was said to have arrived at the EFCC facility earlier in the day, accompanied by hundreds of supporters, a development that led to heightened security presence in the area and heavy traffic congestion along the Jabi-Airport Road corridor. Authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the teargas incident as of press time.

  1. At least, El-Rufai is in their custody now. Nigerians are myopic people, why on earth will you be protesting for someone who was and still the troubler of the country people.
