Ozoro festival: Police give update, confirm arrest of seven more suspects

The Delta State Police Command has arrested 11 additional suspects in connection with a viral “raping festival” video in Ozoro, bringing the total number of individuals in custody to 15.

The Delta State Police Command announced on Saturday that seven more suspects have been arrested following the viral spread of disturbing videos showing men assaulting women during a purported “raping festival” in the Oramudu Quarters of Ozoro. This latest development follows the initial apprehension of the alleged organizer and four others, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to 15 as operatives continue to analyze video evidence and intelligence.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe clarified that the acts were the work of “criminal elements who exploited the situation to engage in acts of sexual violence, which are in no way representative of any legitimate cultural practice.” Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola has condemned the incident “in totality,” reiterating that the command “remains resolute in its determination to ensure that all those involved are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.”
