Osinbajo, UNILAG urge wider distance learning to bridge university access gap

Nigeria faces a significant university access gap, with over 2.2 million seeking admission annually and limited capacity. Former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and UNILAG Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola advocate for expanding open and distance learning (ODL) as a crucial solution.

They stress that conventional campus-based education alone cannot meet the demand. Osinbajo highlighted that ODL, supported by emerging technologies like AI, is a national necessity for personalized learning and wider access, urging a fundamental rethink of educational models beyond simply digitizing lectures.
