Osi Balogun of Ibadanland is dead

Ibadanland is mourning the loss of one of its most senior traditional figures, Oba Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland.

According to Tribune Online, the respected monarch died on Friday after a brief illness at his residence in Ibadan. A palace source confirmed the development, saying members of the Omo Oye family had already gathered at his home following the news.

Oba Isioye-Dada’s passing is expected to trigger a fresh round of promotions within the Balogun line of the Ibadan traditional hierarchy. Among those set to benefit is APC governorship aspirant Senator Sharafadeen Ali, who is expected to move from Ekaarun Balogun to Ekerin Balogun, subject to the approval process.

The late monarch served as Osi Balogun until his death, leaving behind a significant legacy in Ibadan’s traditional leadership structure.
