Nigeria has implemented a 30-day visa exemption for Rwandan nationals following President Tinubu’s announcement at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, mirroring Rwanda’s existing policy toward Nigerians.
Nigeria has launched a 30-day visa exemption for Rwandan nationals, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) confirmed Friday in a statement described as a landmark step toward strengthening diplomatic ties and intra-African mobility.
The policy follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, and reciprocates Rwanda’s existing visa-free arrangement for Nigerian citizens.
Under the new arrangement, “Rwandan nationals may enter Nigeria without a visa for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days for lawful purposes, including tourism, business, and official engagements.”
Visitors wishing to stay longer must apply through Nigerian diplomatic missions or the e-visa platform. All entry points — airports, land borders, and seaports — have been directed to begin immediate implementation.
“This initiative reflects the strong diplomatic and bilateral relations between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Rwanda, while promoting intra-African mobility, tourism, and economic cooperation,” the NIS statement added.
