A Nigerian man has appealed for repatriation, alleging he was deceived into joining the Russian army after travelling for a promised security job.
Abubakar Adamu, a Nigerian man, has appealed to the Federal Government to secure his repatriation from Russia, alleging he was lured with a promise of employment as a security guard but forced into military service. His lawyers said he travelled to Moscow on a tourist visa issued on October 16, 2025, and had his documents confiscated before signing enlistment papers written entirely in Russian.
According to his representatives, Adamu is stranded at a Russian military camp after refusing deployment to combat zones in Ukraine. The development follows reports by Ukraineβs Defence Intelligence that two Nigerians died fighting for Russia, while the Russian ambassador to Nigeria dismissed allegations of forced recruitment.
