A Nigerian man, Victor Udoh, and his accomplice, Vuyiseka Mzwakhe, have been sentenced to a combined 37 years for drug trafficking in South Africa. Udoh received 22 years for drug dealing and immigration violations, while Mzwakhe was sentenced to 15 years as a drug courier. They utilized social media to coordinate their activities.
The court learned that Mzwakhe initiated contact with Udoh via social media, offering to transport narcotics. Udoh provided funds for her travel and accommodation between cities. The operation involved receiving a parcel at a guesthouse in George before traveling to Oudtshoorn.
Police intercepted their taxi following a tip-off, finding Mzwakhe with methamphetamine valued at R260,050. Both pleaded not guilty, but evidence proved Udoh’s role as the mastermind and Mzwakhe’s willing participation. Udoh was also found to be living illegally in South Africa.
