Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has thrown its weight behind the Federal Road Safety Corps’ proposed bill to ban preaching and hawking in commercial vehicles, saying the practice distracts drivers and could breach public peace.

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has backed the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) bill seeking to ban preaching and hawking inside commercial vehicles, describing it as a step in the right direction.
In a statement by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, made available to Daily Post on Saturday, MURIC said bus preaching distracts drivers, contributing to road accidents, and also amounts to conduct capable of breaching public peace.
Akintola commended FRSC for the “visionary” and “precautionary” bill, calling preaching inside buses “uncivilized and discourteous.” He urged the National Assembly, where the bill is currently pending, to expedite its passage given the rising rate of road crashes nationwide.
