Jailed ex-Power Minister Mamman loses mansions (FULL LIST)

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the permanent forfeiture of a Wuse 2 mansion belonging to jailed former Power Minister Saleh Mamman, while granting interim forfeiture orders on four additional properties linked to the ex-minister currently serving 75 years for diverting N22 billion in power sector funds.

Nigeria’s jailed former Power Minister is losing his property empire — one court order at a time.

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the forfeiture of five properties linked to Alhaji Saleh Mamman, 68, currently serving a 75-year sentence after being convicted of syphoning N22 billion from power sector contracts, following an EFCC application, as reported by The Nation.

PERMANENT FORFEITURE

  • Walijam Apartments at No. 43, Plot 435, Lobito Crescent, Wuse 2

INTERIM FORFEITURE

  • Bloom Luxury Suites Nigeria Limited at No. 5 Amana Crescent, New Estate, Unguwan Rimi, Kaduna State
  • A mansion at No. 11 Misratah Street, Wuse 2, Abuja
  • Another mansion at No. 13 Misratah Street, Wuse 2, Abuja
  • A.U.A Plaza at Plot 734 Kade Street, Wuse 2, Abuja

The court permanently forfeited Walijam Apartments, ruling the EFCC conclusively established it was acquired with crime proceeds. The remaining four received interim orders pending further verification and newspaper publication inviting third-party claims.

Despite Mamman’s lawyers arguing the court had become functus officio post-conviction, Justice Omotosho held that Section 321 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act empowers continued forfeiture proceedings after sentencing. The EFCC noted it had recovered under N2 billion of the N22 billion Mamman was found to have diverted.
