Israel has secured funding for the fifth edition of its iFAIR fellowship, which will launch in October to support Nigerian innovators turning research into viable businesses.
Israel Secures Funding for iFAIR 5, Set for October Launch
Israel has announced secured funding for iFAIR 5, the fifth edition of its Innovation Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors and Researchers, set to launch in October. Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria Michael Freeman made the announcement in Abuja at the closing ceremony of the fourth iFAIR cohort, according to Nairametrics.
The nine-month programme, run jointly by the Israeli Embassy, TETFund and Innov8 Hub, offers mentorship and investment support to help Nigerian innovators commercialise ideas. Freeman described it as Nigerian-led, not an export of Israeli solutions. TETFund’s Sonny Echono said the initiative targets the gap between academic research and commercial products, adding that innovation centres are being set up in over 60 tertiary institutions.
