The House of Representatives says results transmitted to INEC’s IReV portal cannot be used for collation, insisting Form EC8A remains the only legally recognised basis.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters, Adebayo Balogun, has said the Independent National Electoral Commission cannot use results uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing portal for collation under the proposed Electoral Act Bill. He made the clarification during an Arise TV interview on Thursday while discussing provisions of the bill.
Balogun said neither the House nor Senate versions permit collation from IReV, insisting that Form EC8A remains the only recognised document. “From the two versions, there is none of it that says that the results of the IReV would be one to be used. It is still the form EC8A,” he said.
