Sources at David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences say Mary Habila, found dead at Minister Umahi’s residence, was a Community Health Extension Worker, not a physiotherapist as the minister’s office claimed.
Habila Was CHEW, Not Physiotherapist — Varsity Sources
Fresh details have emerged over the qualifications of Mary Habila, the woman found dead at the Uburu residence of Works Minister David Umahi. University sources told SaharaReporters that Habila was a Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW), allegedly placed on the DUFUHS payroll through the minister’s influence, despite lacking the qualifications for the physiotherapist role his office claimed she held.
The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy had earlier said Habila’s name did not appear in its register of licensed physiotherapists, contradicting Umahi’s July 11 statement that she and a colleague were seconded to the ministry as physiotherapists.
Habila died June 27 at the minister’s residence. Police have said an autopsy is required before her body can be released.
