A federal jury in the Southern District of Florida has convicted Tampa pharmacist Olushola Yusuf, 60, for illegally dispensing more than 335,000 oxycodone 30mg pills, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Prosecutors said Yusuf provided the highly potent drug to nearly all customers, many without legitimate medical need, and charged up to ten times the normal price, requiring cash payments.
Yusuf owned two pharmacies—Boots LLC in Margate and Chans Pharmacy Plus in Pembroke Pines—where customers traveled long distances to fill prescriptions. Evidence showed some buyers paid up to $1,000 monthly, while others collected pills in bulk on behalf of absent individuals.
Witnesses testified the pharmacies operated behind locked doors, serving select customers. Yusuf continued dispensing despite warnings from employees and the DEA. She was convicted of conspiracy and five counts of illegal distribution. A co-defendant has pleaded guilty. Yusuf faces up to 20 years per count, with sentencing scheduled for October 14, 2026.
