A fire outbreak caused by an electrical fault affected the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) headquarters in Abuja on Saturday, damaging several offices on the fourth floor. The incident was detected early by on-duty security personnel, who immediately took action to contain the blaze.
Emergency responders, including the FCT Fire Service, arrived promptly and successfully controlled the fire, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building. FIRS confirmed that no lives were lost, though some offices on the affected floor sustained damage. “Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault, though a full inquiry is ongoing,” the agency said.
FIRS announced plans to review and strengthen its internal safety measures to prevent future incidents. The agency also commended emergency services and staff for their swift response, which helped minimize property damage and ensured the safety of employees.
