Customs Rejects Smuggling, Leakage Claims
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has dismissed allegations of increased smuggling, revenue leakage, recruitment impropriety, and succession manipulation. The National Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, responded to an August 7, 2026, investigative report, calling its claims a “misrepresentation” of the Service’s enforcement and administrative processes. The report cited intensified smuggling and 846 valuation code manipulation.
